Vein Treatment
What primary problems need specialized vein treatment?
The team at Zarcone Vein & Aesthetics provides expert treatment for varicose veins and spider veins. Both problems develop when one-way valves inside the veins stop functioning. As a result, blood flows backward, accumulates, and enlarges the vein, creating a condition called venous reflux.
Spider veins or telangiectasias occur in the small blood vessels near the skin’s surface, creating a visible network of tiny reddish-purple veins. Spider veins may appear anywhere on your body, but they’re most common in your legs and face, on the nose and forehead or around your eyes and lips.
Varicose veins appear when the venous reflux affects large veins in your lower legs, causing the veins to become engorged and twisted, resulting in large purplish-blue veins that bulge out from the surface.
What is a capillary angioma?
A capillary angioma, also called a strawberry hemangioma, is a noncancerous growth of tiny blood vessels that looks like a small red to dark purple lump. Dr. Zarcone uses a laser treatment to safely remove a capillary angioma.
What symptoms develop due to varicose veins or spider veins?
Spider veins seldom cause symptoms. Varicose veins often cause achy, painful, or tired legs. In some cases, you may develop swollen, itchy skin. Untreated varicose veins also lead to complications such as venous ulcers and deep-vein thrombosis.
What type of treatment removes varicose veins and spider veins?
Dr. Zarcone performs a thorough diagnostic evaluation in the office then determines the best treatment for symptomatic varicose veins:
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive technique in which Dr. Zarcone uses a tiny needle to inject medication into the spider and varicose veins. The drug collapses the vessel walls, forming scar tissue that your body eliminates while diverting blood flow to a healthy vein.
When treating varicose veins, Dr. Zarcone uses ultrasound imaging to guide the injection into the proper area. He may also inject a medication that foams inside the vein, allowing it to reach all the walls better than a liquid medication. Sclerotherapy takes less than 45 minutes per treatment, and you’ll have little to no downtime or pain.
Endovenous laser ablation
This in-office procedure eliminates varicose veins using heat from a laser to collapse the vein walls. Dr. Zarcone performs endovenous laser ablation under ultrasound guidance.
Ambulatory microphlebectomy
After making a tiny incision, Dr. Zarcone uses a specialized tool to reach through the incision and remove your varicose veins.
